Description of classes and dates
Childbirth 101: The Series
Cost: $95
This is a 3 night class on labor and childbirth.
This class covers signs of labor, preparation for labor and birth, breathing and relaxation techniques, stages of labor and birth, pushing techniques, Cesarean birth, hospital policies, and comfort measures.
It includes an excellent book on childbirth with an on line component for continuing education at home.
This class includes a tour of the Baby Place. The goals of this class are to empower the couple with knowledge, and instill the mother with confidence in her ability to give birth.
We want the couple to embark on this experience with excitement and the skills necessary to have a treasured memory.
The fee includes a class on newborn baby care and post partum, a class on preparation for breastfeeding, and an anesthesia/epidural class on separate evenings.

Childbirth 101: The Blitz
Cost: $110
This is a one day class that covers everything in the series including a tour of the Baby Place.
The fee also includes the additional classes on newborn baby care and post partum, preparation for breastfeeding and an anesthesia/ epidural class on separate evenings.

New Born Baby Care and Post Partum
Cost: $35 (free if enrolled in either childbirth class)
This class prepares new parents for both the care of the mother and her newborn during the early weeks after the birth.
It includes an excellent book on post partum and baby care with an on line component for continuing education at home.

Preparation for Breastfeeding
Cost: $35 (free if enrolled in either childbirth class)
This prenatal breastfeeding class offers tools to make breastfeeding your newborn successful.
The class provides information on successful breastfeeding techniques including positioning and latch.
The class covers the benefits of breastfeeding for the newborn and the mother.
There is a review of breast pumps and tips for mothers who will be returning to work.
An excellent book on breastfeeding is included with an on line component for continuing education at home.

Anesthesia/ Epidural
Cost: $35 (free if enrolled in either childbirth class)
This class is taught by an anesthesiologist and covers detailed information on epidural anesthesia, Florida Hospital policy and procedure, and the benefits and side effects.

Happiest Baby on the Block
Cost: $55
Learn an extraordinary approach to calming your baby in this special class. New parents will learn step-by-step how to help babies sleep longer and how to soothe even the fussiest infant in minutes… or less.
The class includes a DVD and a soothing-sounds CD. You may attend this class during your pregnancy or right after and bring your baby.

Pediatric CPR Class
Cost: $70 per couple or $40 per person
This class will prepare you to respond quickly with the necessary steps for rescue in the event of choking or a sudden cardiac arrest in an infant or a child in a clear and easy classroom setting.
Upon completion a certificate will be provided by Florida Hospital and the American Heart Association for Friends and Family Pediatric CPR.

Sibling Class
Cost: $20 per family
This class prepares young children for the arrival of a new brother or sister. The children will view a DVD about becoming a big brother or sister.
They will practice diapering, holding, wrapping, and feeding a baby doll. They will go to the nursery and see a baby born that day. Grandparents and friends are welcome.
Remember to bring a camera.

Tours of the Baby Place
Cost: Free
For those couples not attending a childbirth class, tours are conducted twice a month. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your tour time.
